The "2009 Standard catalog of Firearms" is the best source I have used to identify and value older firearms.

It is highly overrated. This book is comprehensive only in including manufacturers and models and is heavily illustrated (but in black and white) but is not for the serious gun aficionado as usually the entries do not include the capacity and weight and never include the production run and the year of introduction is included only occasionally.

I will also recommend to my friends not to use this web site. Due to how this transaction was handled, I will not be purchasing from you again.

Keep in mind as soon as something is published it is obsolete. Works great in conjunction with other reference books. Great book with the most up to date price referencing I've experienced. Lacking when it comes to specialty and fine collectibles.
